Hey peeps!!
To all that came for COPA IBA I wanna tq for your support and your full spirit in playing the games. I really wanna say well done to all YW@P-ians who went to play and to cheer!! getting the trophy is really a very unexpected thing.. actually I aso din heard of any such trophy.. haha.. but anyway it is everyone's fair play that we are awarded this trophy so congratulation everyone for getting the Fair Play Award trophy!! Let us try to qualify for semi-finals or finals next year!!
But the most important thing is, never of this could have happen without our team manager's help.. or rather our only uncle Michael's help.. if you guys do not know, uncle Michael was the one who came out with the strategies and helped to plan out the game properly and that's why we manage to qualify for the 2nd round.. I would like to thank uncle Michael here for helping out so much and giving us so much encouragement for COPA IBA!! Thank You Uncle Michael!!!
Now let us go for the coming IBA bible quiz!! let's do all our best to thank Uncle Michael for all the hard work he has put in!! go BSGC!

BSGC in action in COPA 2006
S-T-R-E-T-C-H.....
The Stretcher..err... leading the warm-up session
Someone doing the impossible?
OOooops...
The girls in action against SS2...
The girls out-'talled' by the opponents! but we out-faired' them!
Our gentle giant catcher..
MichaelToh scoring to our "chair crasher catcher" - Siaw Fang!
Cheering the team on!
We won FAIR PLAY TROPHY!!!

Here are some pictures of the trophy we couldn't receive and see first hand.
It was great fun and to top it all up, we won A trophy that we can be proud of! We beat out 21 teams from the captain ball senior division and we were probably the shortest in average or at least among the shortest, and the smallest team there - but we showed great strength in fair play and sportmanship!
Once again - congratulations to BSGC and to everyone!!

COPA IBA 2006

BSGC made it to the 2nd Round in the Captain Ball Senior Division for the first time in her history by registering a huge win over Cheras Gospel Hall 18-2. The victory was enough to place BSGC third in Group A. BSGC also won against Elim Gospel Hall Ipoh, edging them 8-6. Other results - lost to Bangsar Gospel Hall 2-18 and to SS2 Gospel Centre 0-36.
BSGC however was edged out in the 2nd round to Group E winners, Klang Jaya B 3-6 after inspiring play in the first half saw BSGC leading by 1-0. However, in the seltering heat, BSGC was made to pay for her inexperience and the young squad saw Klang Jaya equalised and with quick succession, saw Klang Jaya scored to edged out BSGC.
However, it was still a proud moment for BSGC, who was later awarded FAIR PLAY AWARD by the organisers, IBA. From 21 teams who took part in the Senior Division Captain ball, BSGC was voted tops in fair play!!
Syabas BSGC.... Next ...lets conquer the Quiz!

More news on COPA IBA
For your info guys, there are 21 teams taking part in Senior Captain Ball, where we will also be sending a team. The teams are divided into 5 groups of 4 each with the exception of Group A where there will be 5 teams. The top 2 teams of each group will progress to Round 2, with the exception of Group A where the top 3 teams qulify for Round 2.
BSGC Ywap is in Group A along with Bangsar 2, Cheras, Elim and SS2.
All we need to qualify for Round 2 is to win at least 2 matches that will give us at least 6 points (3 for a win, 1 for a draw). The 6 points should be sufficient for us to qualify among the top 3 in the group.
I rate our chances as high to qualify for Round 2. A win in Round 2 will put us into the quarterfinals.
Although we respect our opponents as Bangsar and SS2 has aways been strong, and we have had a friendly with Elim (so we know them as well) with Cheras being "unknown" to us - we should hold no fear for them. I think we are going to do well and progress to Round 2 at the very least.
I hope you will bring your World Cup fever to COPA IBA and let's start winning some trophies and titles! Come in your "Blues" and cheer for BSGC YWAP!
Mikey.
