Why you should sit in front in church...

Today I read a story about a young man who died in "church"

I can understand why some young people might not want to go to church. Some speakers or teachers can be long winded or boring...

but look at Acts 20... a young man by the name of Eutychus fell asleep listening to a sermon by the apostle Paul. I am quite sure Paul wasnt a boring speaker but that's only that much a young person or even any adult can take at one go..and Paul, on that night, was talking and talking and preaching and preaching (for he has to go to another place the next day and he has much to say to the brethren in that town) and so young Eutychus fell asleep....

and of all places, Eutychus was sitting at the back of the room and on a window ledge... he fell out the window and down to the streets... and died from the fall. Well, that must have woke up the whole church! Paul went down and raised Eutychus from the dead..and guess what, everyone went back in to the room and Paul continued preaching.... and i bet you Eutychus probably sat right in the front!

Moral of the story - sit in front! and if you have to sleep...don't sit by the window... but IF you really had to sleep and you have to sit by the window, make sure you know who the speaker is and if he can raise people from the dead!

Lazy Lazy Lazy

Some funny and interesting things the Bible talks about regarding "Lazy people"

Proverbs 19:24 - Lazy People take food in their hand but don't even lift it to their mouth
so i reckon it goes to say that fat people are not lazy people. and the fatter you are, the more hardworking you are!! lol

Proverbs 18: 9 - A lazy person is as bad as someone who destroys things
i think it is more fun destroying things but hey, i haven't seen the police catch someone for being lazy but we have heard of many police cases about destroying public properties...

Proverbs 19:15 - Lazy people sleep soundly but idleness leaves them hungry
one sure remedy of imsomnia - be lazy... but be careful, you might end up putting on weight...

Proverbs 26:16 - Lazy people consider themselves smarter than seven wise counselors.
enough said.... the verse is self explanatory

Proverbs 26:14 - As a door swings back and forth on its hinges, so the lazy person turns over in bed
so what if someone just sleeps on its back without turning - not lazy right?

and... finally...

Proverbs 22:13 - The lazy person claims, "There's a lion out there! If i go outside, I might be killed!"
duh!

3 Uncommon Things Every Girl Wants In A Guy

The author of Ecclesistes says in chapter 7 verse 28:

"though I have searched repeatedly, I have not found what I was looking for. Only one out of a thousand men is virtous, but not one woman!"... guys, if you want to be that 1 in 1000, you can separate yourself from the rest by living up to these 3 uncommon characteristics.

1. A spirit of Desire

whoah!!! before you get all too excited about your raging hormones... what we're talking here is about girls who likes their men to have vision, drive and a desire for life and are willing to work to reach their goals.

Proverbs 21:25 says that the desire of a lazy man kills him!

2. A spirit of Kindness

A girl always likes a guy with the proper etiquette (never mind about how to spell it but practice it) and manners in the way you should treat people...

3. A spirit of Justice

A just person is someone who has learned to distinguish right from wrong and is not afraid to stand up for the truth. Don't back down to the pressure of friends to do wrong or compromise. Have some backbone and be counted!

ps... by the way the author of Ecclesiastes - King Solomon!

Excerpts from the Little Black Book on sex and dating

Part 1:
THREE Things Dating IS NOT...

  1. Dating IS NOT for those who aren't ready - At what age you asked?? well, many of you may have already started dating or maybe not, but in my opinion, there's no law to the right age to dating but if you can't even take care of yourself, then you're not ready. That doesn't mean you can't have good friendships with the opposite sex; just keep things in a group environment
  2. Dating IS NOT a great way to "really get to know someone" - Why? Because everyone is on best behaviour during a date. If you really want to know someone, watch a person at school every day or both of you get a job together at McDonald's. Eight straight hours of work will tell you the real story!
  3. Dating is not all it's cracked up to be. - Think about 2 person out together who hardly know each other. They're young and have limited social skills. They have to try to create awkward conversation for hours on end. The point is, its usually a whole lot easier to get to know someone among a group of other friends who can help fill those awkward moments, keeping things fun

Dating is not really a biblical word at all (surprise, surprise!!) That doesn't mean its wrong to go out with someone on a "date". But it is important to remember what the Bible has to say about developing romantic friendships. If you begin dating without some clear guidelines and boundaries, you are headed for disaster.

Chinese New Year

Hello! This rabbit is here to wish you a Happy Chinese New Year! =P

The days leading up to Chinese New Year has been filled with rigorous cleaning of our houses for most of us. Many would be too busy cleaning and redecorating. And then on the first few days of Chinese New Year, we will not dare pick up the broom or mop to clean. This is because many Chinese believe that cleaning during the first few days of Chinese New Year would mean sweeping away the fortune for the year ahead. It is believed that what we do on these few first days of the Chinese New Year would affect the rest of the year ahead. Therefore, many rituals and traditions are being upheld to ensure a prosperous year. Many believe that what you do and how you act during these time is important in determining how the rest of your year will go.

In the Bible, Peter also gives us certain rituals and traditions to ensure our Christian life to be spiritually prosperous. Read 1 Peter 2:1-17 and 1 Peter 1:13-25.

In these passages, Peter urges us to live a life of holiness. He calls us to clean up our acts and attitudes which is much like cleaning up our spiritual house. He encourages us to live a life of love and respect.

In chapter 1 verse 23, Peter relates being a Christian to be born again or born anew; like newborn babies. Most newborn babies don't really care much about anything except their food. They crave for milk. And for us Christians, we crave for spiritual milk. Spiritual milk that gives spiritual nourishment that will lead to growth in Christ.

Where can we find this milk? I'm glad you asked. It's in the Bible. To you reading the Bible may seem boring, something you do not look forward to. Maybe this is because you do not know what you need. The only one who knows is Him who gave you life. So, when you read your Bible, look to God and open your heart to Him and whatever it is He wants to tell you. Ask Him to guide you to the passage where He wants to tell you something. Open your ears and just be quiet and listen. Listen to Him.

To grow in Christ is to grow with Christ. To know Him more and more and to want to be like Him. To strengthen your relationship with Him. For only when we are close to Him do we feel the peace that we've come know. Though your heart and flesh may fail. That there is an anchor for your soul and you can say that "It is well."

Are we willing to do a little personal house cleaning to ensure a life full of His peace and prosperity? Do we have that hunger for the God's Word like new born babies craving milk?

A New Year !

Hello! It's a new year. I know it's a bit late.. but.. better late than never. For this new year.. The grand year of 2011 is going to be a year of hope yet a year of despair; a year of joy yet a year of sorrow; a year of triumph yet a year of defeat.. you get the drift. But the one thing similar.. as the picture implies is.. "We have big plans." I know most of you want to enjoy and make the most of this year ahead. Some of you want to build a pyramid. Others, a little less ambitious, want to get straight A's for your exams. But in everything we do.. Remember where your priorities are. I know it's gonna be a busy year ahead; for ALL of you.. But I do pray and hope that you yourself will know what is right n to use this year and your time wisely. Spend time with your family, friends and most importantly, GOD. Oh, and don't neglect your studies. :p Know for yourself where God lies in your life; whether He is your foundation and cornerstone or just in one of the rooms in your heart and know how to make your relationship with Jesus Christ all the more intimate, closer and essential in your life. In everything, always always yearn and learn to put God first.

I'll just leave you with this:
What is green and bounces around in your garden?
SPRING ONION. :b
