Captain Ball League Week 2 December 2007

The Finals are finally here! While SAGC and Bangsar battle it out for the Championship Trophy, 4 teams battles it out for the Challenge Hamper! Klang-KGH (3rd place) were favourite alongside 4th placed Klang Jaya, who scored as many points as KGH but lower in ranking due to goal differences.

While Klang played bottom placed BUC for a place in the Finals, KJGH was up against BSGC for the place in the Challenge Trophy finals.

Surprise-surprise... BUC defeated KGH in extra time (the first time in the League) to qualify for the finals. To make the occasion sweeter, BSGC surprised KJGH with a normal time victory 23-20!

BSGC played well, strolling to a 9 point lead within 3 minutes and were leading and controlling the game for most part of the match. Both teams played a gorl less since KJGH had one girl less, BSGC politely obliged to play a girl less a well. From the beginning, KJGH played a very cautious game, prefering to start slow but found themselves trailing after 5 minutes of game. KJGH staged a late fightback, but it was too little too late as BSGC hung on for victory!

In the Championship Final, it was also a hotly contested match with both teams in close competition until the final victory. SAGC snatched victory, in the jaws of death, as they pulled a 2 point score in the dying seconds to edged out a bitterly dissapointed Bangsar who was leading for most part of the game. The whistle eruptted in estatic celebration from the highly competitive SAGCians...

Then came the CHallenge Playoff Finals between BUC and BSGC, the final game of the evening and for the tournament. Both teams who like to play fast attacking game began in similar style with BSGC having the slight edge in the early minutes but BUC was able to match the effort for point and quickly built up a 6 point lead by half-time! BSGC led by the loud Catcher Mr G and sharp shooting of Esther, Ted, Ian and Cheah Wei however managed to pulled BSGC back to level the points with some very determined defending by KS, Denise, Jolin and Amelia and managed to build up a 3 point lead going into the final minute. Leading by a point with 15 seconds to go, BSGC's hearts were broken when BUC managed to score a 2 pointer in the final 10 second to snatch victory away.

It was a great match and BSGC showed a lot of character with their never-say-die attitude, fairplay and non-violent reaction. Though trailling by almost 9 points at one point of the game, BSGC never gave up and gave their all and crawled back to even lead in the game. It was also fair play from BSGC with no promotion of violence and aggressiveness that mars many earlier matches by other teams. BSGC could be proud for playing a very enjoyable game at very high tempo professionally.

Great job and congratulations BSGC for entering the finals! Let's go for the champion Trophy next year!

And of course the food was good...

The post-match food is ALWAYS good and is one agenda on everybody's mind each Sunday. (Of course the Games were important too..)

Last week, while the team went to Teluk Gong for seafood and were dished a variety of seafood delicacy from fish to crabs.. this week, the team made a return trip to Boston Seafood Restaurant again due to pouplar demand for the deliciously devilish Seehum!! Once again, it was seehum paradise

(or whatever that's left behind... the seehum was so good, it dissapeared before the cameraman could whisked out the camera, turn it on and snap the picture!!!)

For the seehum-challenged teammates, we had the kangkung sotong!!

and the fried tapioca noodles...

and ... buttered prawns...

and "fermented beancurd" toobak... or lamyee paiquat.. PORK RIBS...

and we punctuated our meal with fried rice, fried kuew teow and veetables... and lots of leong shui!!!

ps... running off without paying the bill???

Captain Ball League Week 25 Nov 2007

Bangsar Wins inaugural IBA Captain Ball League 2007!!

Bangsar Gospel Centre (BGC) won the inaugural CBL in Real Sports Arena, Klang when they edged Bandar Sunway Gospel Centre (BSGC) in a very closely contested match. With SAGC having won the earlier match to draw level on points, BGC needed only at least a point from their match against BSGC. With BUC having lost their game to Klang (KGC) inthe first game of the competition, BSGC had confirmed their 5th place in the League and had no pressure as compared to their more fancied opponents.

If BGC thought that their opening day victory was an indication that they could walk all over BSGC, they were in for shock when BSGC were just 2 points behind BGC at the break. The neck to neck contest saw BSGC coming back from an early setback to draw level on points with 2 minutes to go before BGC edged ahead slightly due to a lapse of concentration just before the break.

However, an early blitz by BGC with 3 early strikes by their girls pulled them a 8 points ahead. BSGC tried valiantly to fight back but the early second half blitz had done its damage. The closing 3 minutes of the game saw BSGC clawing back the points but alas, the fightback started too little too late. BGC won the game 30-23.

It was a good game overall, that saw both teams playing a very tactical match.

The final results meant that BSGC will now play in the Challenge Round with Klang Jaya (KJGH) who lost marginally to KGH to allow KGH to stay at 3rd place.

A win in the Challenge Round Semi-Finals against KJGH will put BSGC with a chance to win the Challenge Round by playing in the final against the favourite KGH, who will play BUC in the other semi-final playoffs.
In a brief interview with the team manager of bSGC, Joseph, he commented that "...we reckon our chances against KJGH. We are going for a win and I am confident we can cause an upset win against KJGH in the semi-finals if we play the way we did againist BGC today. I am really proud of the girls today who played extremely well. And the guys were great too! A lot of fluidity in the play was carried out to plan and if not for the half-time break, we could have lead BGC and even defeat them... who knows?"

The team was in good spirit despite the defeat and were looking forward to the after match dinner (and of course the final round of matches!)

Congratulations to Bangsar Gospel Centre (BGC) for winning the inaugural CBL.

Captain Ball League

We will be playing TWO games this weekend, firstly against third placed Klang (KGH) and then against fourth place Klang Jaya (KJGH).

One more win and we could see ourselves in fourth place! We have already virtually avoided bottom place. Another win from one of these two games will see us securing fourth and possibly even third placing.

After seeing how these two teams played in their previous games, I believe that Sunway definitely has a strong opportunity to score some vital points! Do come and play/support our team!

Makan Makan Sessi 11Nov

Another food blog...

after the bitter dissapointment of not being able to find our destination last week and ended up steamboating in Bandar Sunway, we managed to discover another Klang gem.

This time, because we ended late from our games in CBL (we only finished at 9.30!!) but I guess, after all the hard work, it was God's way of blessing us. This time, we decided to have dinner nearby in Klang town and found this recommended place in Jalan Meru, near Tabung Haji Building opposite the famous night BKT in Klang town.

We ordered the recommended dishes like "sue fun" tapioca noodles, steamed lala in rice wine, nestum prawn mantis, kam heong prawns and top it off with lots of "see hum" and kangkung sotong!! We also added on the richly "chu yau char" tai luk meen, vegetables and fried rice!!

The "see hum" and steamed lala were clear favourites among the group as was the tapioca noodles!! for those who couldn't join us, we have put up some photos for you to salivate over...

so - joining us next week?? hmm....

steamed lalawith "tai luk meen"

By the way, the name of the restaurant.. Restoran Boston Baru..
Do join us for another successful food adventure... we at BSGC loves our spiritual and physical food!! We not only knows where to show you the best spiritual food in the Bible but we can also show you where to find the best yummiest food on earth.. .where you cant find in Melbourne, Sydney, Singapore and that little town in wales....
yummy....

Captain Ball League Week 11 Nov 2007

We won our first game in the League by beating Bandar Utama Chapel (BUC) 22-13!! Well done guys!!

However, we lost the next game to League Table toppers 60-28! At least we scored our highest scoreline - 28 pts!! Our best in the tournament so far!!

Captain Ball League

An update on the results of our games so far..

Despite the results, the players actually did very well and played their hearts out!! Some even played until their shoes were completely worn out and torn pants!!! lol

Happy Birthday To You!

Guess who's Birthday is it today?! :)

Yesh lar! The most "lengzhai" Uncle in our Youth and College-Uni Students Fellowship liao! :) - Uncle Kevin Ho Ho Ho! ;)

The one Uncle whom everyone has "funny, cheeky, loves to joke and laugh" Uncle Kevin!

Our Uncle Kevin IS cheeky, no doubt about that! :P

Yeapz! You see what I mean. :P

He also loves to........

Eat! :P

But! at least he is always always kind enough to share the good food with US too! XD

He is our lifeguard when we go for waterfall trips...and jumping into pools! Haha. Or at times, you would remember it as he was the one who pulled or threw you into the pool! :P But fear not, Uncle Kevin is a certified lifeguard.... and even if he is not, he is always ready to lend a helping hand! :)

Not just when you're drowning in water....it could be when you're drowning in issues of Life - anything at all! from the smallest things like "Uncle Kevin, bring me go buy stuffs" to "Uncle Kevin, my life is so messed up!" If it is beyond his human ability to help, his prayers will help :)

He IS really always ready with a helping hand :)

His love is never too much to share.... :)

*muaksss*... that was Ezra by the way! Haha.

He would reach to your level to be friends with you... to "love" you, to care for you, to reach out to you, to be there for you. He is not proud or arrogant. He is constantly there as our friend! :)

Be it with the young ones! :P

Or the older ones! :)

So yesh! We know who to wish "Happy Birthday" to now..... none other than OUR Uncle KEVIN HO! XD

"Yes Uncle Kevin, we know it's your birthday!"... Haha!

HAPPY AND BLESSED BIRTHDAY UNCLE KEVIN!!

WE CAN NEVER THANK YOU ENOUGH FOR EVERYTHING YOU'VE DONE FOR US!
